Jacquelyn A. Brown, PhD
Research Assistant Professor

I am a Ph.D. neuroscientist with over 15 years’ experience in research science, I have successfully led a team of research scientists that have been extremely productive in generating publications and meaningful scientific advancements, and I have a proven track record of helping to obtain research grants and contracts from both governmental and industry partners. I have managed the day-to-day workings of a highly productive and innovative core research facility. My areas of research focus have included design and fabrication of novel microfluidic cell culture devices, molecular / cellular research techniques, particularly human primary cell and induced pluripotent stem cell culture and drug testing, paired with a strong background in rodent models of human disease. I have spent the last 4 years directing a research team working with microfluidic bioreactor models of the barriers of the central nervous system and other micro-organs. I have strong technical skills in advanced cell culture, microfluidics, materials testing, microscopy, data analysis, and process development. My research experience is diverse and includes animal behavior, drug response, protein purification, and genetic analysis, as well as managing / training new laboratory personnel and overall project management.
